I'm having worse dysphoria tonight than I've had in quite a while, and I'm not sure why. Maybe because I went out in public (around strangers, not people who know me) for the first time in a few weeks and got reminded that I'm still being perceived almost completely as female. I went out today in guy clothes, to the dog park and the grocery store. I'm not being read as male at all. A woman I was talking to at the dog park said, "Nice to meet you, ladies," as she left, and the man who rung me up at the store said, "You saved $XX today, ma'am," without even hesitating. I cut my hair.  I really like it; it's comfortable as hell and I think it makes me look better even as a girl (and it's way better, of course, for passing).  My husband took it a lot harder than he thought he would and I hate seeing him this depressed - I know I'm the one making him unhappy but I'm not sure what I can do about it.  I can't go back ( Read more... )
